Giving Tech a Second Life: Supporting Digital Inclusion in Matlock

Written by Connect Fibre Team | Apr 2, 2026 1:54:23 PM

At Connect Fibre, we believe everyone deserves access to fast, reliable connectivity — and the devices needed to make the most of it.

That’s why, recently, our team donated over 20 laptops, tablets and mobile phones to PCrefurb in Matlock. Alongside company contributions, members of our team also donated their own unused devices to support this important initiative.

Supporting digital inclusion in local communities

Digital inclusion is more important than ever. Across the UK, many individuals and families still lack access to the devices they need for everyday life — whether that’s applying for jobs, accessing online services, or supporting children with schoolwork.

PCrefurb is tackling this challenge head-on by refurbishing donated tech and distributing it to those who need it most. Working closely with organisations like Rural Action Derbyshire, they help people build essential digital skills, improve employment opportunities, and stay connected.

Why donating old tech matters

If you’ve got unused devices at home or in the office, donating them can have a real and lasting impact.

  • Support employment opportunities – Help someone apply for jobs and develop new skills
  • Enable learning – Give students access to essential educational tools
  • Improve connectivity – Help individuals stay in touch with friends, family, and services

Donating your old tech isn’t just about clearing space — it’s about creating opportunity.

Connect Fibre’s commitment to bridging the digital divide

As a broadband provider, we’re passionate about connecting communities — not just through fast fibre networks, but by supporting initiatives that ensure no one is left behind digitally.

By working with organisations like PCrefurb, we’re helping to bridge the digital divide and make technology accessible to more people across the UK.
