We’re excited to share an update on Project Gigabit in North East Staffordshire as part of the UK government’s rollout of fast, reliable broadband across the UK.
The programme focuses on connecting homes and businesses that are not currently included in any broadband providers’ plans by bringing cutting-edge digital connectivity to areas that might otherwise be left behind.

What have we been up to?
You may have noticed our engineering teams hard at work in your area, carefully assessing the BT Openreach (BTOR) network infrastructure. This involves examining poles, chambers, and underground ducting to determine their suitability for our use. A key objective of this work is to maximise the use of existing infrastructure, reducing the need for new infrastructure deployment wherever possible. These detailed inspections have enabled us to create tailored engineering designs that meet the unique needs of your community and to develop a robust project plan to guide the “build” phase.
In some areas, we’ve already begun implementing these designs and are making exciting progress in building the network and focusing on getting it ready for service. We had our first set of villages and towns go live on the 31st of March with additional areas being announced in the coming months.
We are planning to announce roadshows in the areas that can now access our full fast fibre broadband network, to give the residents an opportunity to speak with us about the services available and help them fully understand the benefits of Project Gigabit.
Supporting your community!
At Connect Fibre, we believe that supporting our communities is just as important as connecting them. We are dedicated to making a positive impact beyond providing high-speed, reliable broadband.
In March, we attended the Burton and Uttoxeter Jobs Fair to encourage local residents to apply for vacant roles, including those created specifically for the area. The event was a great success, with our team engaging with hundreds of locals interested in available opportunities—we look forward to welcoming some of them to our team soon.
If you know of any other ways we can support local communities, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us at communityengagement@connectfibre.co.uk.
A big thank you from us!
We’d like to thank the entire community for your patience and support as we work to address the technical challenges standing between us and delivering a brighter online future for your area. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated as we move forward with the project.
