How to set your Connect Fibre router to Bridge Mode

What is bridge mode?

The Wi-Fi router included in your Connect Fibre service was chosen to deliver the best performance for your home network with your Connect Fibre connection. Residential customers are eligible to use their own router rather than the one we provide. If you would prefer to use your own router, here's what you need to consider, as well as what you need to get connected.

Bridge mode is a setting within a router that turns off the router’s Wi-Fi broadcast, turning it into a bridge between the network and another Wi-Fi router.

Customers should have the freedom to use the equipment that works best for them. Bridge mode is a fast way to make that functionality available.

Note: Although this is an option available, any router that is not provided by Connect fibre will not be supported by our technical support team.

Setting up bridge mode

Using the mobile application, you can easily switch to bridge mode in the settings.

Go to Advanced Settings > Internet Settings

From the internet settings click on 'Automatic Configuration - DHCP' to switch to Bridge Mode.

Bridge Mode is found as the last option in the list of connections.

Once selected the application will Save the new setting. Your router will now restart to configure Bridge Mode.

Once restarted settings will be successfully saved.

Finally, when you return to your application Dashboard you will see your router is now in Bridge Mode.

  • After you switch to bridge mode, all other connected child nodes will also work on bridge mode.
  • You may add more child nodes by selecting Set up a New Product on the Linksys app.

If you want to change your connection type to the previous mode or disable bridge mode, go to the app, tap the Menu icon > Advanced Settings > Internet Settings then select Connection Type > Disable Bridge Mode. 

Some features will be disabled on Bridge Mode.  These include Parental Controls, Priority, custom internal IP addresses, and other advanced features.
