3A. For iOS Devices:

4. Now you will see two options. Router Speed Test & Device to the Internet

AppSpeedTest-Fork

Router to Internet and Device to Internet - Measures the speed hitting your router. Router speed tests tend to be higher than device tests especially if your device/s are connected to WiFi rather than Ethernet/Cable

Device to the Internet - Measures the speed you're currently getting on your device i.e. Phone/Tablet/Computers. These tests can vary drastically, depending on whether they are connected to WiFi vs Cable or the device/s age or distance from the router, amongst other factors

Jargon

Download: The speed at which internet data is transferred from the internet to you. An example would be downloading a game
Upload: The speed at which you send out data to the internet, such as backing up photos
Ping: Think of this like postage. Upload and download speeds are like the size of the parcel, but ping is the speed of delivery. If this is too high it can make things feel slow despite a high download speed.
