Troubleshooting Wi-Fi Connectivity Issues with Solar Panels

This is a brief overview of why your solar panels may not be working with Connect Fibre.

The Wi-Fi technology built into solar panels is often quite basic, which can lead to compatibility problems. In our experience, the solar panel manufacturer has been able to resolve this in 99% of cases. This isn't a unique problem to Connect Fibre; it seems to be an issue across the solar panel industry.

For more advanced users

splitting the Wi-Fi bands can be a workaround, but this is only recommended if you have a good technical understanding. It's not uncommon for solar panel equipment to experience issues when connecting to routers that either combine both Wi-Fi frequencies (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) or use different Wi-Fi technologies. If you are tech-savvy, a workaround that generally solves the issue is splitting your Wi-Fi bands and connecting the solar panel to the older 2.4 GHz frequency. Please do not attempt this unless you are confident in your technical skills.

We recommend contacting your solar panel manufacturer before reaching out to Connect Fibre for assistance with this issue. The problem is not with our router, but rather the compatibility of the solar panel equipment.
