Having Trouble Connecting Your Smart Device?
Learn why your IoT (smart home) device may not be connecting to your Connect Fibre Wi-Fi and how to fix the most common issues.
Internet of Things (IoT)
The Internet of Things (IoT) includes smart devices that connect to the internet, such as smart speakers, cameras, video doorbells, thermostats, lighting, and smart plugs. These devices can be controlled remotely using an app or voice assistant, making your home more convenient, secure, and energy efficient.
Troubleshooting IoT Devices
If your IoT device isn't connecting or working as expected, try the following:
1. Restart Your Devices
Restart both your router and your IoT device.
If you've recently changed your router or upgraded your broadband, you may need to factory reset and reconnect your IoT device.
2. Check Your Device
- Install the latest firmware or software updates.
- Make sure your device supports your router's Wi-Fi settings (such as 2.4 GHz, WPA2/WPA3, or Wi-Fi 6/7).
3. Check Your Wi-Fi
- Make sure the device is within good Wi-Fi range.
- Try moving it closer to the router.
- If other devices also have a poor signal in the same area, you may need a Connect Mesh Wi-Fi Extender.
4. Advanced Checks
If you're comfortable changing router settings:
- Connect the device to the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band.
- Temporarily disable WPA3, MLO, or QoS in the TP-Link Aginet App if they are enabled.
5. Test on Another Network
Connect the device to another Wi-Fi network or a mobile hotspot. If it works, the issue is likely with your home network. If it doesn't, contact the device manufacturer for further support.
Need More Help?
As the manufacturer knows your device best, we recommend contacting them first for device-specific issues.
