Connect Fibre Awards £500 Community Grant to Fawfieldhead Parish Council for Road Safety Initiative

At Connect Fibre, building connections means more than delivering blazing-fast broadband. It’s about supporting the places we serve and helping local communities thrive.

That’s why we’re proud to share that Connect Fibre has awarded a £500 community grant to Fawfieldhead Parish Council to support a vital road safety project in Hulme End, Staffordshire.

Supporting Safer Roads in Staffordshire

Founded in 1984, Fawfieldhead Parish Council is dedicated to improving the quality of life for local residents. The council listens closely to the community and works proactively to create positive change that benefits everyone.

The £500 grant will help fund the installation of Speed Indicator Devices (SIDs) along the main B5054 road through Hulme End — a stretch that has seen ongoing concerns around speeding vehicles and motorbikes.

This busy route runs past several popular campsites, a well-loved local pub and the nearby Manifold Valley Visitor Centre, attracting visitors throughout the year. With increased footfall and seasonal traffic, improving road safety is a top priority for residents and councillors alike.

Speed Indicator Devices play an important role in encouraging motorists to slow down by clearly displaying their speed in real time. By helping to reduce excessive speeds, these devices contribute to a safer environment for pedestrians, cyclists, families and visitors enjoying everything the area has to offer.

Investing in Community Wellbeing

The grant will support:

  • The purchase and installation of Speed Indicator Devices (SIDs)
  • Ongoing efforts to improve road safety along the B5054
  • Creating a safer environment for residents and visitors

A representative from Fawfieldhead Parish Council shared their commitment to making a difference locally, noting that initiatives like this directly respond to residents’ concerns and help protect the character and safety of the village.
