How do I connect my new TP-Link router?

You have renewed onto our WiFi 7/TP-Link package, this page will guide you through swapped the Linksys (WiFi 6) to your new TP-Link router.

To Start, please make sure that your current setup is correct, and that your service is live. There should be 3 green lights on your Adtran ONT, and your Linksys light should be a solid blue. As below:

ONT:

Linksys:

Once confirmed, please turn off BOTH devices, for 15 minutes. The easiest way to do this, is via the sockets. Do not power anything back on until you have proceeded.

Once both have been off for 15 minutes, please disconnect the ethernet cable from the INTERNET port, on the back of the Linksys. Leave the ethernet cable connected to the ONT port, as we need this link cable for the new router.

Set the Linksys to one side. You need to ensure you remove the power cable as well, please do not re-use this for your new TP-Link router.

Regardless of your TP-Link model, (810 or 610) the steps here are the same. Please do not use a 210 as your main router, if you have received one, these are MESH nodes only.

The guides for setting up our TP-Link MESH will be below.

Let's get your new router setup!

  • Please unbox the router, and get the new power cable ready

  • Connect the new power cable to your socket of choice, and then into the routers power port (near the base)
  • Connect the link (ethernet) cable from the ONT, into the WAN/LAN port on the back of your new TP-Link router, shown here:

  • Power the ONT back on, ensuring the ethernet cable is correctly seated, and secure, both into the ONT and the WAN/LAN on the TP-Link.
  • Your new router will cycle through several light combinations, before settling on a SOLID GREEN - this means the WiFi is live.
  • Your ONT should also show 3 green lights, as the image above shows.
  • Connect your devices to the new SSID, using the WIRELESS PASSWORD on the base of the router.

Your new WiFi 7 service should now be live, please ensure you connect your devices to the new network, as they will no longer see your Linksys network.
