Company Overview

Connect Fibre is a rapidly expanding and exciting new business offering the very
latest full fibre to homes and businesses across the nation. With broadband
speeds of up to 2000Mbps, new Wi-Fi 7 technology, exceptional customer service,
and costing no more than current internet packages, customer growth is expected to
be exponential. Our product sells itself!

We now seek a dynamic, ambitious individual to join our Delivery Team.

The Role

As a “Connector” you will play a pivotal role in our mission to provide the UK with faultless broadband at unprecedented speeds. We have a revolutionary, premium, future-proof product that is fairer, faster, and flawless for our customers and as with all machines, we have a lot of moving parts (especially within the delivery team). We have been awarded the delivery of two BDUK government contracts in North-East Staffordshire & Derbyshire to build a full fast fibre network in hard-to-reach communities.

As the BDUK Project Manager you will serve as the frontline champion of Connect Fibre, ensuring delivery excellence for the client. The BDUK Project Manager acts as the “sheriff” within our department, driving each workstream forward to success, keeping accountability and continuous improvement at the forefront to deliver a successful programme and product output for the client, BDUK.

This is a highly responsible role within the delivery department; therefore, we require the role holder to have proven experience of working in a fast-paced environment, where they were responsible for managing and delivering complex projects and/or programmes.

You will act as the liaison between all key stakeholders within the delivery team and will be responsible for holding team members to account for their deliverables. This extends to communicating progress, verifying evidence, managing escalations, and producing detailed reports, via the approved reporting mechanisms, aligned to contractual reporting of objective KPIs or milestones.

As our BDUK Project Manager, you will be tasked with, but not limited to, some of the items below:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for the client, maintaining a positive relationship, managing expectations, and ensuring project delivery aligns with contractual agreements.
  • Deliver customised reports for the client at each stage of the programme, translating delivery outputs into programme outcomes, and facilitating effective communication with client officials.
  • Develop and nurture relationships across the BDUK programme and be able to communicate effectively against key delivery milestones.
  • Interfacing with Local Authorities in Project areas to maintain positive relationships.
  • Identifying risks and issues ahead of time and providing solutions and mitigation plans.
  • Build cross-workstream relationships to drive strategic alignment for the business objectives.
  • Maintain and update project plans, schedules, and trackers (milestones, build/RFS forecasts, dependencies) aligned to milestone commitments.
  • Maintain change control, RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) logs, and all other project related logs.
  • Prepare weekly/monthly status reports (progress vs. target, maintaining Monday.com boards, and provide commentary on delivery outputs) and present updates at governance forums.
  • Collate evidence for milestone validation (e.g., premises passed/RFS counts, as-built data, test results).

The Candidate

We are looking for a seasoned project professional who will uphold the highest of standards in department and workstream project management. We require a charismatic and forward-thinking individual who can champion success and not be afraid to challenge the status quo.

  • Showcase extensive experience in effectively managing the day-to-day operations of BDUK programmes, or fibre broadband delivery programmes.
  • You must be extremely competent in project management methods (waterfall, agile and hybrid frameworks) and project management tools.
  • Demonstrate exceptional proficiency in data handling and report generation, facilitating timely production of essential contractual reporting requirements for both internal business needs and the client, BDUK, on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Ability to champion successful delivery outcomes and adeptly manage programme stakeholders to ensure alignment with project objectives, outcomes, and reporting.
  • You must have proven experience in data management, portfolio management, process optimisation and change management.
  • You will be astute, confident, professional, polite, and happy to work remotely, attending off-site meetings as and when required.
  • You must have excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • You must have a forward thinking and pro-active approach to work.
  • You must be willing to travel occasionally to our offices/sites, when requested.
  • Experience using project management tools, such as Monday.com, Power BI, MS Excel and PowerPoint, are essential.
  • You must be confident in challenging colleagues, in a professional way, to ensure accuracy of data, and to keep the programme moving forward.
